Our COVID - 19 Response

Our world truly is in unprecedented times.

COVID-19 is a significant health crisis that is instilling a great deal of uncertainty and fear in our world today causing an increase of stress on everyone that our business touches. For people working in our industry, and the individuals we care for, this infection is at the forefront of everyone’s minds. The majority of our patients fall into the category of ‘very vulnerable’ to a severe or fatal infection. Which means, Blossoms Senior Care must be the pinnacle of safety, a leader in the fight against the Coronavirus, and an advocate for who we care for. As our business is an essential service, and our patients need care regardless of the situation, we have implemented all safety recommendations and precautions from the CDC, WHO, the province of Manitoba, and The Federal Government of Canada in an effort to best protect our workers as well as our patients.

As we continue to watch this situation evolve with changes coming rapidly, we hope you find some comfort in knowing our team is working diligently to protect and support the health and well-being of our team and all those we serve.

Here are a few ways that you can help us with keeping our vulnerable and elderly safe:

1. Familiarize yourself with guidelines and follow them– Understand the guidelines given to us and follow them to the best of your ability. These guidelines were given to us for a reason. And they are still seen to be the best defense against spreading this virus. Wash your hands frequently for 20 seconds, avoid large gatherings or physical contact, disinfect objects that are touched frequently, etc. Any action that we can help protect the vulnerable should be taken.

2. Eliminate nonessential outings or visits– Stay home, stay home, stay home. Don’t have the vulnerable leaving their homes during this time. If they have nonessential dr. appointments, are in need of groceries, or pharmaceutical requirements, there are now an array of options to get what is needed without putting them at risk.

3. Make sure all individuals in contact have pristine hygiene – Have ways for individuals to clean themselves when they enter a home or a room in which there are vulnerable individuals. The guidelines needed to be followed exactly for all those who will have continual, repetitive contact with vulnerable individuals.

4. Avoid social isolation– The reality is that loneliness and isolation during this pandemic can be almost as dangerous. Do what you can to stay in touch with family and friends. Use virtual meetings, phone calls, emails, etc. to ensure they do not feel forgotten.

5. Stay active and get that immune system boosted – There is a growing concern that social distancing may affect vital health routines in the elderly population. Geriatricians across the world emphasize the importance of maintaining good habits when it comes to sleep, eating, and exercise. There are still ways to get our daily exercise in the house! (see here for ideas)

You can be rest assured that we will continue to do our very best to combat the spread of COVID-19 and support our patients as well as staff during this pandemic. Our organizational goal is to ensure the highest quality care for our patients, and we will continue to work to reach this goal regardless of the situation.
